About Hair loss
Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is a condition that causes hair to fall out. It can affect people of all ages, but it is more common in men. Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors, including:
- Genetics: Male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness are the most common types of hair loss. These conditions are caused by a combination of genetic and hormonal factors.
- Hormonal changes: Hair loss can also be caused by hormonal changes, such as those that occur during pregnancy, menopause, and thyroid problems.
- Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as alopecia areata (an autoimmune disease that attacks hair follicles) and lupus, can also cause hair loss.
- Medications: Some medications, such as chemotherapy drugs and blood thinners, can also cause hair loss.
- Stress: Severe stress can sometimes trigger hair loss. This type of hair loss is usually temporary and the hair grows back once the stressor is removed.
